Ahahaha, I started out as a kid, but that when the game first came out. I'm 30 now. XD By some's standards, fr too old to care about video games.

I remember when FF9 just came out, and the fandom was small even then. More active in the past than now, though. I kinda love silly ideas, though. Hence why I'm 30 and play video games and read manga designed for Japanese teenage boys. >.>

We didn't get our music all easy and free off these fancy yousendit and megaupload things, we had to use ftp and upload a dozen songs in exchange for the two that we wanted... in the freezing rain, through waist-high snow, on dial-up both ways!! dammit...

Ahhahahahaha! So, so true. And LiveJournal hadn't even invented, much less Dreamwidth, so fandom was something you built yourself!

Mailing lists. XD Kids these days just don't get no home training like they got back on the ol' MLs.

And they don't know drama until it's been emailed, in mass, to their inbox, directly! And they don't know pain until they mess with the Yahoo Groups! Kids these days are so spoiled and sheltered.

And when The Two BNFs, who also happen to have been BFFs, have a very messy breakup all over your inbox, the whole fandom implodes, and then hey presto, there no longer is a fandom cause it went kerplooie and everyone left the list. The...only...list.

Or, worse, there's now two lists, one for each BNF, and ach are waging a passive-aggressive netwar against the other. Ah, the good old days. *looks misty-eyed*

According to fandom standards? Probably entering the nursing home. >:D

On a semi-related topic, I don't mind entering the nursing home IRL. I'll have so much time to play all my video games! And the best part is that I'll likely be senile and forget I ever played such a game, so playing it all over again will be fresh and new. And I'll save money by having no need of new ones!

When our generation hits the nursing homes, we're all going to be sitting in our rockers and wheelchairs playing video games. ;D

(the answer that popped out first was, "It means you started out in Gundam Wing," but I do realize that doesn't apply universally... possibly just to the other two 37-year-old fanfiction writers that I know. XD)

Also, hee! As it happens, I've never been in anime/manga fandom at all. Most of the fandom people I know in their later 30s and beyond are in Western media fandom (American and British TV, Harry Potter, live-action movies, etc). I like hanging around there for the interesting meta, but it's not my fanworks scene at all.

A lot of the meta bignamers seem to have gone something like, Due South/Sentinel--> (bandom, X-Men, and/or HP as transitional/overlapping fandoms)--> SGA or Supernatural (almost never both)--> AI, Merlin, DW--> metametameta (on Dreamwidth!), huh? *g*
