Ahahaha, I know this relationship well! Me and my best friend were like that, only I had the SNES and she had the Genesis. It was a wonderful tradeoff, except that I sucked at Sonic and Altered Beast. XD I think Mystic Quest MIGHT be on Wiiware, but I'm not sure. If it's not, it should be. It was kinda fun. XD

Ha, I still have trouble with the idea of useful status spells, because I expect them to do nothing but waste my time. FFIV:TA was much harder before I figured out that Slow really wanted to be my friend. >.> And townspeople now actually tell you what to do instead of babbling nonsense! *still bitter about Castlevania 2*

In the last round of FF Exchange, someone (which I could remember who) wrote an FFIX/XII crossover in which Beatrix was a Judge Magister. The crossover worked *beautifully*, and I for one would love to see more in that vein!

Although I'm not usually much of an enemy!shipper, I do see what you say about Vayne/Ashe, especially earlier in the game. Were you thinking AU?

Which other FF games have you played? VII, halfway through CC, VIII, X-2, XIII, part of Dissidia, & a couple of the iPhone games. (Just got XII finally, yay.)
Which FF fandoms are you now or have you been active in? VII the most, I guess? Though it depends on how one defines 'active.' I'm a big lurker, and I would love to read a lot more X and VIII fic than VII fic, it's just that there isn't so much. I read a lot of XII too though I haven't played it yet...
For authors - What story idea(s) do you have in mind? Rikkufic that's been eating my brain for six months or so now. With a side of Aurikku, but, er, not exactly romantic?
Anything else you think we should know? I've only written one fic this long before and am pretty much planning some serious caffeine abuse to keep myself a) shoving out words and b) not looking down til it's done. XD Because otherwise it'll never happen.

Ahahaha, same here. Like, I was breezing through FF13, ignoring that sometimes the status effects are necessary with the tougher bosses, because it just did not occur to me that the status spells would actually be useful. XD And the townspeople are more useful. Well, sometimes. Percentage-wise, in FF12, most of those people were just as useless. They just had so many of them that some of them were useful! *is actually quite overwhelmed by the huge towns and large amounts of NPCS in the newer game, to the point of tears of frustration*

13 rocks! :D Sazh is my favorite, followed by Vanille. It seems like the amount of fic has picked up a lot in the last month, which is really encouraging (I was all ;o; over the lack in the first couple months after the English release!).

Ah, I've been kinda absentee thanks to studies and life, but I'm glad it's picking up. I was getting worried, because FF13 is really fun. I'm glad the fandom is expanding a bit. :D I adore Sazh, too. Actually, I adore the whole cast, but if someone pointed a gun at my head and forced me to pick an absolute favorite, I'd go with Lightning. XD

It feels like FF12 all over again, it feels like that not many people played it or rather, not many people finished the poor game because one reason or another.

I remember reading that! I was tempted to write something near those lines or something slightly opposite (lol, the mist continent literally being hidden in the mist in Ivalice like Giruvegan).

With Vayne/Ashe it would take place near the beginning, IMO the beginning could have gone many different ways especially when it comes to the treaty/forfeit her father signs. I have a lot of what if scenarios like if Ashe didn't spread the rumor/lie that she had committed suicide or if in the treaty it was signed that Ashe would marry a Judge or Vayne himself to ease the transition from free country to controlled city state.

I barely got involved in fandom when FF12 came out, but I think you're right. I remember being amazed there was not more fic and activity. Now it's all over the place. I think video game fandoms might be slow burns. You have to let it grow up. Perhaps it will develop more by the end of the year. :D

Your story sounds like it has some nice mysteries involved. It seems like lots of great final fantasy viii stories have that kind of premise. I feel like the game itself encourages this, with all of the unanswered questions it leaves.

Also, urgh maybe this time I can post my comment in the right place. That's what I get for commenting when I first wake up. :(

I think it's awesome you have a final fantasy ix idea. So few long stories are written for that game. It sounds really interesting too. I love Zidane.

Favorite FF game: FFVI, hands down. I love almost all the games in the series, but FFVI is special to me.
Which other FF games have you played? FFI through FFX, FFXII.
Which FF fandoms are you now or have you been active in? Currently just FFVI. I used to write a bit of FFVII, but I sort of lost interest. I've had plotbunnies for FFIX, too, but never got around to write them.
For authors - What story idea(s) do you have in mind? I'm planning a ghost story/crime "whodunnit" type FFVI AU. I came up with the idea last year for a Halloween fic, but I scrapped it after about 1000 words because I realised it'd be a long fic and I only had four days to write. It's probably not going to be a nice fic. Leo is my main character and I have a history of being really mean to him. But I'm aiming for a mostly happy ending.
Anything else you think we should know? Despite my fandom ADD, FFVI is the fandom I can always count on to stay with me. It's like a close friend to me. You have no idea how many FFVI snippets are scattered around on my various hard drives and notebooks. If I feel like something nice and sweet? The children of Mobliz making flower garlands for their Terra-mama. Having a bad day? Well, if life gives you lemons, squirt lemon juice in the eyes of people you don't like, or let Kefka do the same, because he can get away with it. Who needs therapy when they have a good fandom? *smiles*
